Reader Reviews:An excellent survey (5/5 people found this helpful)Having just returned from Syria and Lebanon, I can thoroughly recommend Kevin Butcher's Roman Syria as a comprehensive and well illustrated guide to this area and period. It covers Roman Syria, Lebanon and northern Jordan and includes information on the less visited sites other guides omit. Whilst in its present hardback format, it is a bit unwieldy to carry around, I look forward to a paperback addition I can take with me when I return later this year. An excellent companion to Warwick Ball's historical and architectural guide to Syria. excellent in depth (1/2 people found this helpful)excellent summary of the topic, great illustrations and a fantastic resource for advanced study of the topic. Slightly odd use of language here and there, but worth a read.
