Editorial Review:Consider the following meal: Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding and Roast Potatoes, followed by Tiramisu. It's not automatically the kind of fare one thinks of when you're attempting to slim down your hips. But diet guru Rosemary Conley believes it's possible to spoil yourself with an indulgent banquet you wouldn't have dreamed possible--while keeping to healthy eating guidelines. Rosemary Conley's Low Fat Cookbook offers ideas for all occasions: from snacks to full dinner parties; from vegetarian specialities to meat dishes of all kinds; soups, starters, sauces, puddings and cakes. Every recipe lists the fat and calorie content per portion so that you can design your own balanced menus. And there's plenty of no-nonsense advice on how to eat well, slim down, and stay healthy. Reader Reviews:A real helping hand (23/24 people found this helpful)As a 'naughty' food lover, I had great difficulty in accepting that I needed to diet and transform my eating habits to make myself happier. This book was a starting point for me. I was so impressed that I joined Rosemary Conley's diet & fitness club to try and lose that stone that causes me so much grief. Well done to Rosemary on this! She knows her stuff and is obviously dedicated to the cause. The meals are delicious and even my partner enjoys them. Definitely a worthwhile purchase! Absolutely awful! (22/46 people found this helpful)Trying to eat healthily usually strikes fear into a 'foodie's' heart and if you follow this book, your worst fears will be realised. I bought it, tried some recipes and soon regretted it. I bravely carried on, the recipes are bland, uninspiring and there were times I'd rather go without food rather than have to endure pork and beans, cowboy style. She focuses on what the dish LOOKS like, there is a lot of , 'and use natural yoghurt rather than cream to give a creamy apprearance'. APPEARANCE?!! Yes, how a meal looks is part of the pleasure but taste is the most important factor and this is what a lot of her recipes lack. This book is gathering dust in the cupboard and I shall not be bothering to buy any of hers again. I'll stick to the obvious stuff, cut down on butter, cheese, fats etc and not have to torture myself eating what's in the book! Dissapointment- prepared food largely bland and unappealing (2/3 people found this helpful)The plus points of this book were that Rosemary Connely did introduce the correct principles of eating healthily, which were to cut down on fat intake yet eat a balanced nutritious diet. However the recipes, which looked so enticing from the photos, tasted bland when cooked. By the way I am a good cook!!! As a fairly fussy eater (I don't like many vegetables) I found I was always hungry after eating one of Rosemary Connelys meals, as she sais to have a large helping of salad or green veg. with everything (My problem I guess) Everything seemed to taste of Natural yoghurt - However I did learn that my daily consumption of calories was too high and that I should monitor my portions and fat intake. Not worth giving it a go unfortunately The best cookbook I have ever bought. (14/14 people found this helpful)This is the most delicious food I have ever eaten and it is low fat and low calorie to boot. The Christmas Pudding in this book, saved my Christmas it is absolutely unbelievable as a low fat dish. I feed this food to my husband and family and they all think it is delicious. I recommend this book to everyone. Thankyou Rosemary for this wonderful way of eating. Low Fat Food but you lose none of the taste (11/11 people found this helpful)This has to be the best low fat cook book that i've every come across. Not only are the recipes easy to follow but they taste wonderful to. A real must for anybody wanting to eat low fat.
