Brilliant - an excellent addition to my Rupert collection (5/5 people found this helpful)
I didn't realise that any old editions were in print again - otherwise I would have got more of them already!! Luckily for me though, I was browsing for books suitable for my 18th Birthday money to be spent on...when I came across this book. Having initially being looking for Tolkien books, I almost went straight past it - but something about the special edition book in a box to keep it preserved took my fancy.
I have carefully taken it from its box and read it from cover to cover - and it is even more of a delight than the more recent annuals! For one thing, there is an origami paper man to make - something, which I have wished, they would bring back to the annuals again for a few years now. The eight stories are beautiful, with one page having 5 illustrations rather than four (which I cannot remember having seen in any other annual). The stories include "Rupert and Ting-ling", "Rupert and the lucky man" (which is followed by the origami instructions to make the lucky man) and "Rupert's dull day" - not that there is a dull moment in the entire annual! When put together with the square island puzzle at the front and another puzzle at the back, it makes 123 pages of pure delight.
Also, there is a certificate of authenticity - with a number that is also printed in the book. I'm not sure how many were published, but it is a limited edition. Not my main concern at the moment, but a feature none the less.
So, whether you want it for its collectable status or for the love of Rupert, it is a great book to own. I'm just wondering which of the other facsimile editions to buy next...
