Reader Reviews:Rupert, out of the past (5/5 people found this helpful)This Rupert Bear 1941 annaul is a treat and comes in a nicely drawn slip case. The art work is fantastic and brings back memories of those old dandy and dan dare comics. You get seven Rupert stories and whilst the book is shorter and less wide than current Rupert annuals it is certainly thicker. Rupert and the Little Woodmen is my favourite story because it involves Podgy pig who due to greed and laziness learns an important lesson from the Woodman. Rupert saves the day! In Rupert and the mystery pond Rupert helps a mysterious adventurer find the origin of a pond which involves Rupert having some interesting adventure underground! In Rupert and baby badger poor Bills brother Toby gets lost and Rupert and Bill have to find him and in doing so nearly suffer a terrible fate. All the stories are well illustrated and as is typical with all Rupert Bear stories you can read the text or just tell the story by looking at the pictures. This is why Rupert annuals are suitable for all ages. The noticeable thing about this annual is that the stories seem oddly suited to the time they were written which i suppose is to be expected but it is like looking back in time because they have a unique style of their own. This is a great thing about buying these annuals because they provide an interesting insight into the times when they were written. There is something special about reading a book which is identical to an old original. In short well worth the money, but you may want to buy two just in case the little nipper decides to have a read without you! CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
