Reader Reviews:the best book I've read on HTML (3/3 people found this helpful)This was the first book I've read on HTML, and it taught me most of what I know on HTML, which has been invaluable as a kick start for writing websites.
Excellent Book (11/11 people found this helpful)This book is excellent at explaining how to design websites. It takes you through the basics of formatting text, to a simple introduction into JAVA script. It also offers practical advice on how to get your website listed by search engines and how best to design a site. The best thing is you don't need to buy any special software at all. I just used notepad and created superb visually impressive sites. I had no knowledge of how to code websites and now feel confident to take on almost any project. It does only take 24 hours of your time! Buy the book now if you want to learn web design (20/20 people found this helpful)'Ello, If you are looking for a book that will teach you XHTML and HTML from the basics, this is the book for you! I teaches you every thing in well ordered and easy to read and understand chapters. After you have read this book I would recomend reading "XHTML, HTML and CSS Bible," book, this book expands even more on the XHTML and HTML as well as teaching you alot of CSS then touching on all other aspects of web design, like Server Side Scripting, Java Script and lots more. Wonderful. Got my website up and looking good too! (37/37 people found this helpful)This is a fantastic book. It doesn't take you too fast nor introduce things that are complicated before you are ready for them. Before I got this book I felt that writing html was something really difficult and would be a pain to learn, reading it and working through the 24 lessons at my own pace was great though and I now feel comfortable and happy with writing my own html and xhtml code. It might sound surprising but this book tells you right off the bat that you don't need a fancy webdesign suite with a million and one tools, all you really need is the lowly 'Notepad' program that comes with windows as standard. I was really pleased with this, saved me a fortune! The lessons start off with the total basics of html, things like the 'body' and 'paragraph' tags which are page format instructions. If you have ever used one of the old school word processors that have all the formatting tags on display then you will feel right at home, but even if you haven't it is very easy to pick up. The later lessons get you producing some flashy stuff like frames and style sheets, and show you how to embed pictures and sounds in your web pages. By the end of the book you can have a good looking, tightly coded, fast loading website up and running and you will have enjoyed doing it too. The icing on the cake though is that the book can act as a reference for you even after you have completed the lessons. There are details of more codes in the back of the book, as well as links to useful websites about html and xhtml. Overall this is the best and most helpful computer book I have ever read. Pure class. Does exactly what is says on the tin... (28/28 people found this helpful)I've had an idea in my head for a web site for some time and having looked at several help sites on HTML and web building and not finding an awful lot of detail, I saw this book and I thought I would give it a go.
