Outstanding grammar book (1/1 people found this helpful)

This book is excellent. I have been using it in my Italian classes for 3 years and all my students have found it beneficials. Things are explained clearly and coincisely and there are lots of exercises to perfom. At the back of the book there are answers, this way students can continue revision at home by themselves.
The disadvantages of the book are that the language is quite "academic". Also there is no colours used or charts. Besides that is an excellent book. Anyone that wants either to improve or start from scratch Italian must buy it!

could be better (3/7 people found this helpful)

quite good but there are no translations; also it is not very accessible and the order of the chapters doesn't make sense to me.

Best grammar book to buy... (10/10 people found this helpful)

Being a non-native English speaker, the best grammar book I have ever had was the Raymond Murphy English Grammar. Schaum’s Italian Grammar is the Italian equivalent. Everything is so structured and accessible for learners at all levels. Well presented and simplified. Best of all gives you an opportunity to practice. Answers included. Best “catalogued” grammar ever. Highly recommended! (I have dozens of other books and grammars to compare with including my linguistic experience, therefore this is a genuine recommendation.)

Not bad! (7/7 people found this helpful)

It feels at bit old fashioned but the exercises are useful and the explainations are clear. The real pain is when you're looking up answers and there's no chapter reference so you're forever looking through all the answer pages to find the exercise you're looking for.

5/5 stars

excellent all-rounder for students of all levels (17/17 people found this helpful)

I found this book to be invaluable. I already have several italian grammar books but this one is the very best! The grammar points are explained clearly and the exercises are a lot of help too. To anyone who is begining to study italian or for those who only need to brush up on what they already know, this book will be very helpful.
