I'm the kind of person that buys something, throws away the manual, and then works out how to use something.
This strategy works brilliantly - most of the time. Unfortunately for Sibelius, although I could work out some of it, fairly soon things got sticky when I realised that I did not have much of a clue, really.
So I bought this book. And I'm very pleased I did.
It assumes very little prior knowledge and takes you through everything you need to know starting from unwrapping the box. The "lessons" are progressive and practical, building skill and confidence progressively. And if you are terminally impatient like me, you can skip some of them until you fall over and have to admit defeat, backtracking repeatedly until you work out that plodding through the book is really quite a brilliant idea.
There is a lot in the book, and I have not finished it yet. But I'm looking forward to that since I forecast I'll be pretty good at Sibelius by then!
