If you have a knowledge of chess then the chances are you will have heard of the Sveshniknov sicilian. When played by top players the games are often hugely complicated affairs with the first 20 moves or so being 'book' moves that have been played before. So the question has to be is it possible to write an 'easy' guide to this opening?
Well from this author's efforts the answer has to be yes.
The early chapters of the book essentially show the reader why the book lines are so long, with the author showing the pros and cons of making early deviations from the well trodden paths. While later in the book the various deviations from the main-lines are discussed.
Although there are unavoidable occasions where the book gets quite complicated, for the most part the author has succeded in keeping things very readable and palatable for the average chess player such as myself. I would therefore be happy to recommend this book to anyone that has an interest in pursuing this interesting and complicated opening.
