Skellig Review (4/4 people found this helpful)

Skellig is an interesting book as it is about Michael, who has moved house. He went to explore the garage when he found a srtange being insie. He also makes a new friend who is called Mina. He takes her to see the strange being. She thinks that it is a angel, because Skellig has feathers on his shoulder blade. This book is a very extrodinary and exciting book to read. in my opinion Skellig, that it is a great book to read. It has lots of sadnesses but to brighten up the story there are many parts with laughter and happiness involved. This is a great book to read a and i reccomend for many people to read this unforgettable book!

The "Don't Listen to the Others" Review (1/1 people found this helpful)

Skellig is an unbelievable book because it's a great thriller and youcan't put the book down. It invokes strong emotions, for instance, sadness, laughter, gladness and enthusiasim.
There are many main points of action in the book. The book is about a boycalled Michael who finds a strange man in the garage. It is also about himchanging and helping his baby sister from dying.
In my opinion this is a great book to read because it holds the attentionof the reader. I enjoyed the part when they discover what the strange manis. (Do you believe in angels?) I recommend that everybody should readthis book. I think this would be good for boys as well as girls.

You just won't want to put it down (1/1 people found this helpful)

When I got this book I thought I would never of bothered to complete it. But after five minute I couldn't put it down, two days later i'd finished it. Micheal has just moved into an old and almost demolished house to make things worse his mums has the baby prematurely. Micheal finds an almost dead man in his garage with arthritis and helps him grow strong by feeding him Chinese and Brown Ale. Micheal lifts this man up and fells soft lumps of something under his shoulder blades... What they and what are shoulder blades for?...Read the book to find out...The man 'Skellig' helps Micheal to forget his fears of his sick sister. The only annoying bit is that you never get told what Skellig really is.

Potentially for all ages.Quickly captivates your emotions (1/1 people found this helpful)

This simple 'touching on life' story has the scope to encompass a wide range of readers. It can be read in a very short space of time, and time has a special meaning to 'the boy', living the uncertainty of waiting for news, good or bad, when time just refuses to go by.

Who are the key characters? Difficult to answer, as each player in an animated stage production comes through with amazing strength. The book offers you a wonderful opportunity to exercise your imagination.

A worried Mum, a dutiful Dad, the boy, a girl, a baby, and a character called 'Skellig' A sick baby sets the scene, gradually everyone's problems get bigger. Skellig has the power to allay the fears of the boy for his sick baby siser and the characters are brought together full circle. But is Skellig real? Will he finally disappear as E.T. did, and will the boy tell the adults what really happened?........Read on..............

Full of small but clever touches; at one stage the writer produces a balance between cats and birds, and you end up loving them both (in the story!) Adjectives stay in your mind, like 'extraordinary' and 'astounding', because they are used cleverly, and the images they depict are seen through the clearest of mediums - a child's eye.

Sceptics and non-believers watch out! I found the book surprising myself, and was very soon in Skellig's shoes. Will YOU find locked away emotions similar to the ones I rediscovered, I wonder?

Atmosphere is key (2/2 people found this helpful)

What is Skellig? Imagine a deep blue night in a British street, owls, bones, feathers, a boy who plays football, a girl who talks of evolution, a dying baby, birds, and wings, and a man more like a statue with arthritis, and a miracle. This book is a work of art. It is a mass of colours and smells, and snippets of speech. The plot is decent enough, but the atmosphere this book builds of a waking dream, the shoulder blades and the chinese take away is what really makes this book brilliant.Suffice to say the storyline involves a boy who moves into a new house and has a very ill baby sister. He makes a surprising discovery in the garage, and the book is over in a flash. 8 - 15s should buy this now.
