A Worthwile Investment (1/1 people found this helpful)

I've only had this book an hour & I'm delighted.
It is well-written and guides you along nicely, a bit like the tutorials in the Sonar pdf manual.
And it coveres stuff not in the main manual like the (excellent) Session Drummer.
In short, Sonar 7 PE is a great value product PACKED with great features so another £25 for this manual is money well spent to get to all the features you need.
And let's face it, paper is a nicer way to learn than on-screen.

This is a must! (1/1 people found this helpful)

For anyone looking to understand the inner workings of Sonar 7 this book is a must have. Written in a way that is comprehensive for beginners and insightful for the more experienced users I fully recommmend the purchase.

Scott Does It Again (3/3 people found this helpful)

I've bought all of Scott's Sonar Power books since No.4 and I've never been disappointed. He brings lucidity and humour to what would otherwise be a dry subject. Even when Cakewalk used to ship a paper manual with their product it was still a techinican's tome, although helpful as a 'lookup' if you became stuck. Since Cakewalk dispensed with a proper manual (yes, I'm a die-hard fan of the paper variety, sorry) Scott's books are even more essential in my opinion. Try browsing 'on-line help' in bed or in the smallest room!

As with previous issues, Scott doesn't disappoint. With an easy style that nevertheless doesn't avoid the complexities, plus very useful examples and exercises to reinforce what you've just read, this is a must-have companion to Sonar whether you're a 'newbie' or a more advanced user.

Excellent guide to Sonar (3/3 people found this helpful)

I've got many years of experience using computers and software in studios, but had never used Sonar until a few weeks ago, when I had to learn it quickly for a project I was working on. Although it's an excellent programme, Sonar 7 is a bit of a monster, and the prospect of wading through 800+ pages of pdf manuals was not an appealing one.

This book takes you through the programme from installation, and successfully copes with one of the main problems in this type of tutorial; it is neither too advanced for the beginner nor too basic for those with experience. It is written in an appealingly friendly style which encourages you to delve further into the programme at your own pace, and neither intimidates you with jargon nor patronises.

Worked examples and additional chapters are available via free download from the publisher, and all in all it's a book I'm very glad I bought. Highly recommended.
