Reader Reviews:Just Do It! learn words quickly and easily.. (8/9 people found this helpful)This is great... backed up with other learning materials, you get an expansive vocab quickly. Now I have read one review for the Italian version, by the same author saying that it is a palaver learning the Italian word, associating it with and english word... this just demonstrates a severe lack of imagination, and brain power. The method is simple, and with perseverence works wel.. Look at the word, and got with the scene given to you by the author to help you remember it.. Give it colours, smells, feeling and the more you do, the easier you will remember... if the scene given does not work, then choose your own... Think of it, picture it for 10 seconds, and then move on to the next. You will be amazed at how quickly you will create a large vocbulary tha you can use confidently... So ignore the brainless, and get this book.. work at night in bed, and the words will still be there the next morning.. then when you speak the language, when you think of the english word you are trying to translate, the picture will be in your head in a flash, and you will utter it before you realise... This technique is widespread, and used by magicians like Paul Daniels (who has also had a foray into Language courses) and also the SAS, for remembering information... Good luck and enjoy! Very good (7/8 people found this helpful)A must for the absolute beginner. Spanish by Association ( Link Word ) (11/12 people found this helpful)I brought this book knowing only a couple of words such as Hola & Adios but i now know lots of words and a bit of grammer IE: Masculine & feminine stuff. Its a good book for complete beginners like me, it makes a good base for starting to learn and i also brought the cd's that you can listen to whenever and the words really do stick in your head. Good Starting Point For Spanish (13/15 people found this helpful)I bought this book not knowing a lot of Spanish and by the end I could recall lots of spanish words and put them into sentences. Overall this is an excellent book for starting to learn spanish. Dreadful - don't waste your money (30/36 people found this helpful)I was excited by the concept, not that it is a new one. However the way the book is put together it is destroyed. Fair enough, use association to learn words, but if you don't know how to say the spanish word, or just use words that vaguely sound like the spanish word it isn't going to work. That is the concept, make it up yourself. It is much better if you do it yourself, and put some logic in it. The associations are really cringy, american and probably not very useful. There is no link between english and spanish derivations, or other languages, no handy hints for spotting words. For example: if you wanted to remember that cat is gato then think of a cat in a cake..gateaux. The book would say something like think of a circular gate - gate-o which of course is nothing like the pronouncian. Sorry to be damming but its not even a long book.. beware Similar ProductsEasy Spanish Phrase Book: Over 750 Basic Phrases for Everyday Use (Dover Easy Phrase Books) Practice Makes Perfect: Spanish Verb Tenses (Practice Makes Perfect Series) 1001 Most Useful Spanish Words (Beginners' Guides) (Beginners' Guides) CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
