Reader Reviews:Everything you ever wanted to know about J2EE... (5/6 people found this helpful)Everything you ever wanted to know about J2EE but were afraid to ask! This book's got it all... it explains in enough detail every aspect of J2EE, as a software engineer this book has proved to be invaluable for any J2EE project. An exceptional reference. Your chance to catch up with what you might have missed (17/17 people found this helpful)Although the book's back states intermediate-to-advanced level it will probably be more relevant to intermediate Java developers. I can't imagine hardened frontliners to be able to find anything they don't already know there. The title reads like "Java 2 Enterprise Edition" - a title that might suggest the book is only about the J2EE platform, which is not. It should rather read like "what issues you might come accross when building a J2EE application". As such it was exactly the level I was looking for. Being a self-taught Java programmer I have always felt that I might be missing a crucial bit. This is what the book is very good at - it introduces every imaginable topic related to building a J2EE application, but does not burry the reader under much detail. Surely, this is how a reference guide should be written. This book tells you about the background, gives you an example or a snipet of code and - do you want to know more? Read the specification - be it an IETF's RFC or SUN's Java specification! Nothing is more useless then a copy of Javadocs. I give it 4 points out of five.
