Interesting but stating the obvious far too many times.. (10/15 people found this helpful)

After having used this book as a reference in an IT strategy course at University level I have mixed feelings about the book. The book does give you an extensive amount of strategic advice. However one does not have to be an IT strategy specialist to understand facts such as : You need to know the situation of today before planning future changes to systems or organizations. Quite frankly this book seems promising when reading the introduction, but the language used is far too academic and i.e the use of difficult expressions to convey more or less obvious facts. Sometimes the book also recomends various strategies without explaining why..

The book does provide you with various methods of analysis but didn't really impress me as a 25 year old Master of Information Science. If you are more into the financial aspect of planning IT strategy perhaps you will review it somewhat different.

How much cost the information? (6/29 people found this helpful)

Know a day is very important to understand the IS/IT investiments and how much cost the information. The companies can afford to spend a lot of ¬ in Information Systems, witch not takes any competitive advantage.
This book don't tell witch are the best information or technology system for each kind of business or any business, however, it gives us useful techniques to planning the Information and Technology system, analyse and understand the useful systems in order to manage the information and technology systems investments.
This book don's refers to any vendor or company. Don't defend any kind of emergent technology. The scope of this book is techniques and strategies.
A great book
