Tells it like it is. (7/8 people found this helpful)

I did most of the French side this summer and found it to be spot on. You could be travelling to a town/city by train and reading about your destination, when you get there its totally like the descriptions in the book. Theres lots of background info on Swiss soceity/culture which helps you to chat with the locals by knowing their frame of reference.

If you want a good holiday in Switzerland you have to travel around and see the natural sights, this book is great for planning your itinery.

Only flaw I spotted was I was walking on a bridge in Bern that wasn't on the LP map and was lost for about 2 minutes.

If visiting, its best to buy this before you travel so you can do a day by day plan. I did and it ran very smoothly thanks to the LP guide.

A classic of the genre (3/9 people found this helpful)

I really liked this book - heartfelt, witty and not at all mawkish. One for roustabouts. Mr Jackson is to be congratulated.

A "must" for English speaking travelers to Switzerland (10/14 people found this helpful)

I have used this superb guide for the last two weeks while travelling from Geneve to Zurich. I found the introductory chapters very interesting and the practical ones extremely useful. The town maps are accurate and we liked most of the recommendations we tried.

Full of Userful Information (2/7 people found this helpful)

Thanks Mark Honan for writing such a useful reference for travellers in Switzerland! The information inside the books are really useful with all useful telephone numbers, entrance fee infromation to museums...all the people I know who travel around Switzerland are all using this book..I think it's the best among all the travel books about Switerland....most important is that there's no advertisement content!!!! Even for small towns....it still provides detailed info about it, all the bus routes, train routes on getting there!! It's really high recommended for those guys who wanna travel in this place!

Excellent introduction to Switzerland (2/6 people found this helpful)

This book is very informative. As a dip in and dip out book it is excellent, even to the extent of lending it to the locals. With a view to understanding the people, it has been a good introduction. Keep it up Lonely Planet!
