An excellent introduction to Tajikistan (0/0 people found this helpful)

This colorful book is part of the wonderful Then & Now series, and is an excellent introduction to Tajikistan. The information is divided into four chapters: 1) The Land and People of Tajikistan (geography and sociology), 2) Tajikistan's Story (history), Making a Living in Tajikistan (economics), and 4) What's Next for Tajikistan (current events). Along the way, the reader is treated to many colorful maps and pictures.

This book is very well put together, and makes a great introduction to readers both young and old. My one complaint against this book is that it was published in 1993, which means that in some places its information is probably a little out of date. But, that said, I would still recommend this book as a starting point for anyone interested in learning about modern Tajikistan!
