Reader Reviews:Utterly compelling (8/8 people found this helpful)This book brought the experiences of eighteenth-century men and women tried at the Old Bailey to life. I was completely mesmerized by the characters (both high and low) who people this book, and as a reader was drawn into their world. I have used the website on which this book is based before, and been fascinated by the details it contains, but this volume distills the tens of thousands of trials into an accessable and enjoyable concoction that kept me reading and wanting more.
