Reader Reviews:Good for vocabulary (5/5 people found this helpful)This software is very good for a beginner who wishes to increase their vocabulary. There is not much on the language structure but there is a lot of vocabulary to learn, covering a very wide range of topics, through interactive listening & speaking and through different games. I would recommend this software along with another method of learning - e.g. a book/audio course or lessons with a teacher. Turkish (17/22 people found this helpful)I found this program very good for a persons first words. It is a very good thing to have if you are intending to go Turkey for a holiday. Yes people may say that it is very Basic, but we must all start somewhere. it is a very adictive program and you can also assess your progress as you go. Good Practice Material (4/5 people found this helpful)Good software to help build and memorise vocabulary in 8 topic areas. Also useful to let you hear Turkish spoken by Turks. The language games are a bit repetitive in format and the section on useful phrases doesn't really work as it uses the same approach to learning simple lexical items. It would have been better to split these into topic areas as well. Graphics are attractive but are clearly designed for use with multiple languages so there is no real lip-sinc with the video/graphics. Talk Now Turkish (17/18 people found this helpful)"Talk Now - Turkish" is easy to use and fun. There are lots of games and little recording practices which kept me going. The programme keeps a record of progress and I was tickled to be able to print off certificates of progress. There was no explanation of how Turkish words were formed and I had to go elsewhere for this. This lack of explanation was not necessarily a bad thing as I found that I had absorbed some rules of grammar without noticing. I recommend it to an absolute beginner like I was four weeks ago. Fun & Fast Learning (36/39 people found this helpful)This CDRom is an excellent tool for anyone beginning to learn Turkish. It has detailed sections including 'First Words', 'Phrases' and 'Shopping'. There are nine categories in all, each having 4 interactive sections and a printable dictionary. I found that the quizzes were the most useful tool of all on this CDRom. There is an easy and a hard one for each section and in order to get high points you need to play them repeatedly which of course means you hear spoken turkish again and again and before you know it, you know the words without having to think about them. This CDRom covers most of the basic language that you would need to get by on holiday in such a pleasant way, that you won't need a holiday to recover from your efforts, but you will be itching to go so that you can try out your new found talent!
