Despite being in dark, rainy England, I use the Bathers book from time to time. Worth having on the shelf. If you want something newer, get Neil Perry's 'The Food I Love' and if you have lots of cash, get both!

This is a great 'taste' of Australia, where the there is no doubt the food is fabulous - and 'The Bathers' is a wonderful location to eat, drink and absorb the beauty of the location. One caveat - this book was great 5 years ago...but the restaurant has since been substantially overhauled, and updated, and the book really should be too.

This book describes perfectly this seaside restaurant in Sydney, evoking not just the taste of the food but conjuring up the atmosphere of the real place. Really should be called armchair travel and dining.

I visited the Bather's Pavilion on my last trip to Australia. The restaurant, situated on the beach, was fabulous--just like this book. Whether you want to make something quick and delicious for breakfast or something complicated for a dinner party (Slow-roasted Duck Salad with Coconut and Ginger Dressing), you'll find it in this book. Victoria Alexander and Genevieve Harris must be the best chefs in Australia.
