Reader Reviews:A useful addition to Maori language references (0/0 people found this helpful)Te Matatiki provides an official source of modern terms for the Maori language - including vocabulary used in science, technology and medicine. While only a relatively small selection of terms are provided, the coverage is invaluable in ensuring Maori receives due recognition as a living language equipped for modern day usage. The book emphasises this fact, and pools together terms and usage from a variety of sources into one handy sized book. Layout is clear and all terms are supported by a concise definition showing the origins of how each came into use. There are also appendices covering such topics as New Zealand government agencies and country/place names. As someone who works in the software industry, my only real gripe is that computing terms tend to be skimpy or outdated. Such is the nature of technology, this probably isn't too surprising - I'm sure other fields such as the sciences will find a similar situation. Other than that, a very important reference for anyone studying or using the modern Maori language. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
