5/5 stars

By far the best for learning Hindi (1/1 people found this helpful)

I thought this pack was really well put together and easy to learn from. The only possible problem that I noticed was that it was quite hard to just just the CD or the book - I really needed to use both together as they compliment each other.
I found I picked up the language really quickly and learnt really useful phrases/words which were put to good use in India!

The best Hindi Language Course I've come across (10/10 people found this helpful)

Teach Yourself Hindi is a well-structured language course, introducing you to new grammatical structures at a steady and progressive rate and presenting them - along with a manageable amount of useful vocabulary - in the context of instructive dialogues and accompanying examples and exercises which give you a rapid grasp and leave you feeling confident to put sentences together yourself right away. Anyone who is serious about learning a level of Hindi which will really enable them to communicate beyond basic phrases or tourist level language will find exactly what they need here.
This book will be good for complete beginners and also those whose parents are native speakers and thus can understand Hindi and maybe speak some, but who would like a stronger awareness of the grammar underpinning their speech.
My only slight frustration with the book is that - as I'm far more interested in spoken Hindi than written - I wish that the Hindi were written in the Roman alphabet all the way through (along with the Hindi script) and not just from units 1 to 5. Having to read the Hindi in the Hindi script without the transliteration to help has slowed me down considerably, but perhaps this isn't such a bad thing in the end.
