History is a complicated subject, because so much of it is written from a political bias.
MacRoberts is maybe true of this and might be the view of a modern day 'unionist Scot'.
The Scottish rebellions were largely fought by lowlanders, but Highlanders and Lowlanders were divided and conquered by an overpowering English state.
