This is an excellent book that should be celebrated by all enthusiasts of Yemeni architecture and building styles. The collection of photographs and free hand sketches together with the glossary of building terms both in Arabic and English, makes this book an encyclopaedia of Southern Yemeni buildings and architecture that is not available anywhere else, not even in Arabic. I wish someone - perhaps Dr Salma again - will take the task of producing something as good as this book about the architecture of the Northern parts of Yemen especially the city of Sana'a, the oldest capital city in the world. Even though there is a lot of commonality between the architecture of the different parts of Yemen, the style of Sana'a is unique.
The book is also is a great source for information on the life style, geography, history and tribes of certain parts of Yemen that have never been accessed before. Well done to Dr Salma for this grand work and for her epic effort in producing this book.
