Reader Reviews:Outstanding (2/2 people found this helpful)Haythornthwaite is arguably the foremost authority on the subject and this book is among his finest works. Crammed full of information, Haythornthwaite examines both the regiments, campaigns and everyday life of Wellington's army whilst combining facts, figures and technical information which might otherwise seem dry, with contemporary accounts and fascinating bits and bobs. The amount of work gone into assembling the book (300 packed pages) is mind boggling, but Haythornthwaite mashals his diverse material superbly. It is difficult to say how much this volume might appeal to those not interested in the Napoleonic period, but I should imagine the general military reader and perhaps even the history enthusiast in the wider sense, may well find Haythornethwaite's clear enthusiasm for his subject infectious. Personally, it's an all-time favourite. Similar ProductsThe Peninsular War: A New History CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
