Reader Reviews:not what I expected, but still a good book (9/9 people found this helpful)I must admit that I was rather disappointed when I frist got the book, as I expected it to be a sort of concise introductory text to textiles in Africa, when in fact it is a collection of articles that accompanied an exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London a few years ago. I found the articles interesting and well written and also informative, but they certainly weren't what I expected. I wished for a book that would list different types of textiles and cloth in Africa and tell more about the production of each of them. I found that there was lots of good pictures, but they were not accompanied by much relevant text. I would suggest it to people who like looking at nice pictures, but not to those who are after an introductory overview of the art of African textiles.
