Reader Reviews:Great approach; quite thourough as well. (6/6 people found this helpful)This is a great introduction to critical thinking and presents the logic very well, although some minor points take a few readings to fully understand. All around, though, it covers most every aspect of critical reasoning with a twisted approach that allows one to be totally objective. It could be better suited for the average reader and updated some, but it is still the best handbook for critical thinking. Read this before your next argument with your boss (7/8 people found this helpful)Very practical and useful material. Excellent use of examples to demonstrate concepts. The author uses mini transcripts with commentaries to make techniques (and common mistakes in argumentation) crystal clear. This is a must read if you have anyone in your life who likes to argue for argumentation sake. Excellent guide to dirty tricks in arguement (7/7 people found this helpful)Written from the point of how to get the upper hand through the use of dirty tricks. Has virtually all of them covered. Easy to read with lots of examples. I found the book to be quite good. (6/7 people found this helpful)I am reordering the book because a friend lost my copy. I found the book to be quite good. It succeeds in presenting logic and logically thinking in a unique and interesting manner. I was surprised to see the low ratings from your survey. I wonder if some people weren't expecting more of a manual on actually how to deceive others. Poorly written book. Interesting topic, though. (0/10 people found this helpful)Not the author to write such a book. I felt somewhat taken advantage of -- given that my time is so valuable and was wasted --and I suggest you steer clear of this volume and search for the hundreds of other truly interesting and valuable books.
