book with no name (0/0 people found this helpful)

Well what a book !.the review on the back said "death to anyone who reads this"the hairs on the back of your neck prickled straight away but it was that invitation that made you want to read out of shear curiousity and it did'ent disapoint.I think you actually warm to the bourban kid and with dante and peto you kinda see them as the hero's.Like some of the other reviews I can see taranteno, rodregez but also a bit of clive barker thrown in,there's definatley some english twang in there so is the author from good ole england ?.After all it's the birth place of Hammer

Great rollicking violent gory fun (1/1 people found this helpful)

Ok, so it's a tad hackneyed, and it's a bit like reading a Tarrantino film, and the plot lines aren't that orignal...but it's a great great fun book to read.

If you're the kind of person that enjoys watching action films knowing damn well what the format is, who's going to die, who the hero will rely on in tough times etc but don't care and just love the ride, you'll love this book.

It's violent, funny, gory, ridiculous, harrowing and just brilliant.

Think about it: vampires, monks, fancy dress, Mexico, a mysterious stranger, dark bars with gap toothed local theives...it's superb!

Everyone who reads this book will kill their love of reading (0/2 people found this helpful)

You know how most books have a one star review, even your favourite book that you have read 10 times? Well on this occasion you can't just write the reviewer of as a idiot. Believe me this book is terrible. The writing is so amateurish it will give you a headache. Please don't waste your money. Here's a random book that is much more scary and well written: Lunar Park

Definitely makes my top ten list (1/1 people found this helpful)

Brilliant! This book is everything, thriller, horror, comedy, mystery, western, love story, religious, supernatural, adventure and probably a few more. The humour running throughout binds the other genres creating a piece of fiction that is truly unique.
Of course, not everyone will get it, this is a subtle work of genius and will not appeal all - but then what book does? If you read to be entertained, read this, you will not be disappointed.
Great fun but not for literary snobs.

An enjoyable read (5/6 people found this helpful)

I really enjoyed this book. It's funny, exciting, gory and different. I read it on holiday and have just started the sequel, The Eye of the Moon. It made me laugh out loud and I found I couldn't put it down, I wanted to keep going and find out what happened next. Give it a try, I think you'll like it!!
