Reader Reviews:Complete Idiots Guide to Ballroom Dancing (57/57 people found this helpful)A pretty useless book for beginners. Devotes pages and pages to posture, breathing technique, history and other such topics but precious little on the basics of what steps to dance. If you are new to ballroom dancing, don't buy this book. It will be of little help. Idiot's Guide to Ballroom Dance (69/69 people found this helpful)This is NOT a good book for beginners. It tells you a lot about the history of dance, but is very poor on showing you the actual dance steps involved in the common ballroom dances. There is not even a mention of the Quickstep, and "footprint" patterns are sadly missing. It says much about body position and contra-body-movment but fails to show you where to put your feet, which is THE most important thing for the beginner! I found it very difficult to learn from it and had to turn to other books.
