Reader Reviews:I liked it (0/0 people found this helpful)Ok, so it's probably not the best book in the world. I read this after having been bored to death with all the hype about the conspiracy it's about. I liked the main characters, there is lots of action and a few twists in the tale. I think I would have enjoyed it more if all the publicity hadn't got to me first. The ending was predictable but I enjoyed the ride along the way. A good book to laze away a few hours Unmitigated trash (1/1 people found this helpful)A callous, poorly-written and dull attempt to combine lame-duck conspiracy theories with a half-hearted thriller plot. Dan Brown's "Mary Sue" hero is so far from being a realistic or believable character that one loses all sympathy for Robert Langdon within a few pages of his first appearance. The Latin is incorrect and badly-translated, the "disclaimer" which attempts to tie in the fabulist and disconnected conspiracy to the real world is disingenuous and irritating, and the riddles and mind-games themselves about which the book hinges are unconvincing and juvenile. Brown's command of the English language is almost as puerile as his grasp of international culture, and I am deeply sorry that I ever wasted several hours of my life wading through this morass of insipid prose and predictable plot twists. not hard to beat -I could totally hammer him easy (1/1 people found this helpful)great stuff- I threw away all my relegion and history books after i read this deep, carefully researched and beautifully written masterpiece - they should teach this stuff in school The Da Vinci Code (1/1 people found this helpful)I know there are holes in the plot
Ignore bad comments on this book! (2/5 people found this helpful)This book was a truly riveting read. I picked it up, at first, uncertain of the historical nature of the blurb and plane cover, yet, as I began to read I was gripped by the Dan Brown's good sense of pace, attention to detail and undeniably interesting facts cleverly woven into the plot. Though, if you are one who those not enjoy being educated while reading do not hesitate to read this book also. It is hard to explain how the characteristics of the book gave me, one usually suited to what would be considered quite 'girly' and emotional books, the erge to find out more on each painting mentioned within the pages and, as I reach the end of the later published prequal 'Angels and Deamons' I can say with no doubt that Dan Brown is an exceptional author!
