Reader Reviews:The David Beckham Joke Book (3/4 people found this helpful)This is an excellent book for people who are sick of the attention one footballer gets. It's not a book for the typical Beckham fan but I got no end of pleasure from it. Well done! Is there a point? (6/10 people found this helpful)Admittedly, I have only read extracts of this book, but what I have read has been puerile garbage. I understand that, as a public figure, David Beckham is open to ridicule, criticism and cheap jokes, but the content of this book is simply not funny. The English are renowned for their ability poke fun at themselves, but there has got to be a limit. David Beckham is an extremely successful, clean living family man who has done extremly well from humble beginnings. He generates a lot of money for this country and pay tremendous amounts of tax back into the economy. If we are going to make jokes about him, can we at least try to make them amusing.
