This is a superb tape of Seuss stories, brilliantly read by Rik Mayall. Mayall relishes the sound of Seuss's words and rhymes and reads the four well-chosen stories in an engaging, clear manner. The four stories go so well together on this tape, as if they all share the same theme - the theme of empathising with our world. One can see it in the Lorax and the Grinch, as well as in One Fish Two Fish. The ABC, to a lesser extent, encourages us to relish a topsy-turvy world similar to Alice in Wonderland. Mayall turns in a really enjoyable reading of these stories, and the added music and sound effects really enhance the atmosphere of the stories. Very highly recommended, together with the Adrian Edmundson tape of Seuss.

Dr Suess stories need to be listened to in order to bring out the best in them. Rik Mayell does a good job of bringing these stories to live and the sound effects add an atmospheric edge.
Listen to these wherever you are - just make sure that the kids are somewhere near so that you can use them as an excuse...

Rik Mayall does an outstanding job of bringing alive Dr. Seuss, and the accompanying music and sound effects are also first rate. This is the best book on cassette I've heard for children. My 2 1/2 year old listens to it repeatedly and has fun identifying the instruments.
