Really enjoyed it. (1/1 people found this helpful)

I really enjoyed this book, even more than I expected.
It was an excellent mix of information and story telling. The author made it clear where he was using facts, where he was quoting and where he was simply filling in the blanks.
All of the characters were brought to life for me as was the voyage and their hopes and fears for the voyage's end.
My enjoyment was added to having been to many of the places described in Australia and in the UK. My home town was mentioned several times and some interesting characters came from nearby.
I felt thoroughly transported to the time and places of these mainly young women who were for the most part roughly treated by what was even then considered an outdated criminal justice system.
If you like history, law, people, places or a few of those; this is an excellent read.
