Excellent introduction to freeBSD (1/1 people found this helpful)

This book reperesents an excellent introduction to freeBSD for andministrator experienced in working with Windows NT/2000. All the major topics are covered in a very readable way and readers are invited to make a decision as to where freeBSD will fit into their architecture - Mittelstaedt just presents the facts. All in all, the book is worth 5 stars for two reasons. Fistly, it achieved what it set out to do and secondly, it converted a cynic like me to freeBSD. Eneough said!

Very basic..... (8/9 people found this helpful)

Hello,

I'm new in FreeBSD but not in UNIX. I was looking for a book that was more explicit than this one.

This book is good if you are new in UNIX, but I think it doesn't cover in deep any area.

The author is always talking about FreeBSD vs WNT. It's funny the 3 or 4 times but I don't need it every chapter. I only want to know FreeBSD more deeply.

This book is good if you are new in networking and UNIX. If you know both, you don't need this book.
