Reader Reviews:Gorgeous! (5/8 people found this helpful)Worth the money just for the pictures, this book supplies just what you need to take a culinary trip to rural France. Lots of easy recipes and a wealth of inspiration. Actually, it's influenced my interior decor as well as my cooking - how's that for value? great gift (2/6 people found this helpful)I loved this book. A good read when using a railrover train ticket seeing France. It kept me hungry and allowed me to overspend in restaurants in Lille, Lyon and Marseille. Now I am back home, I shall have to start using it to make others as happy as it made me. Great for garlic lovers (16/16 people found this helpful)I love this book and am steadily working my way through the recipes. Top for me is Gascony soup, which blends tomatoes, lots of roasted garlic, mushrooms and red wine into something that tastes different from all those things. Good balance of easy/quick and harder recipes too. Joanne Harris' text makes it fun to read as well while you are deciding what to make next. Stunning (37/37 people found this helpful)The French Kitchen amazed me. Harris and Warde collaborated to ensure that we can access to some amazing recipes that are presented beautifully with lush pictures and captivating text. We get the best of Harris's rich and diverse command of language and Warde's incredible passion for all things food. Divine! (55/55 people found this helpful)Coming from a large robust and slightly insane family with a penchant for massive buffets of food I instantly fell in love with this book. The recipes are simple, the tastes divine. I am not really a fish lover, yet some of the recipes in here even made my mouth water! In actual fact, the real reason I bought this book is because of my husband. He loves chocolate but hardly ever has any as he is worried about his weight, cholestral, all these things, but when I found out that the recipe from Choclat is in here, the drinking hot chocolate, with the chili, I was sold. And you know, I have been thanked for buying the book every time I make something from it, especially the hot chocolate. I have bought a copy for a friend of mine and she loved it to bits. After she opened it and paged through it, we absconded to the kitchen and immediately started baking one of the cakes. It is worthwhile. It has been set out beautifully. It is informative and I can't wait to be able to go and visit France on an extended stay and truly take part in the memories evoked in this book.
