Editorial Review:Oxtail soup, stuffed tomatoes, kedgeree, rhubarb and custard... Take yourself back to a time when things were done properly... In "The Good Granny Cookbook", Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall takes us on a nostalgic culinary pilgrimage, rediscovering the sort of robust, wholesome food that our grandmothers, or even great-grandmothers, used to make. With delicious recipes, all delightfully informed by reminiscences and anecdotes of her own childhood, this is much more than a cookbook - it is a classic to be handed down from generation to generation, the perfect present for old and young alike. Reader Reviews:cooking granny (1/1 people found this helpful)I was given this book when I became a Granny, and I love it, many of the recipes remind me of when I was a child. I love the way it is written and the new 'take' on old themes. A great and practical cook book! A lovely book (3/3 people found this helpful)This is the best cookery book ive read in a long time.Down to earth and nostalgic. The recipes have been written for people who love 'a proper dinner' followed by a lovely pudding. Nicely nostalgic (31/31 people found this helpful)This isn't a book about cooking with your grandchildren, it's a collection of recipes like Mum or Grandma used to make - brought up to date to suit modern tastes and kitchens. Nothing too tricky here, but plenty of inspiration. I love it and will use it a lot. fantastic all-round cookbook (35/36 people found this helpful)I love this book already. There's nothing in it that I wouldn't like to eat or to cook. There are naturally some recipes in here that I don't need a cookbook to teach me how to make, but plenty of classics that I've just never got around to trying, but which I will make now, insprired by this book. A real classic (45/46 people found this helpful)Amid all those TV celebrity chef cookbooks, this is a real breath of fresh air. Delicious, easy to follow recipes on nearly every page, with none of those ridiculous ingredients lists with silly names you can't pronounce! This is a cookbook for real people, and I even found an old recipe - one of my childhood favourites! - a potato dish,"Champ", that my Irish granny used to make for me. A real classic!
