Reader Reviews:Fodder for conspiracy theorists (1/5 people found this helpful)If you are a conspiracy theorist, a Little Englander, or someone who has mentally not quite moved past 1939, you will love this book, and will find much in it to support your perceptions and give comfort to your narrow views of the world. For everyone else, its value lies only in giving some insight into the strange world of smoke and mirrors in which the more hardcore eurosceptics live. One of best eurosceptic books I have come across (1/1 people found this helpful)If a eurosceptic could choose only a single book as ammunition to make the case against Britain's membership in the EU, he should buy The Great Deception. It left a lasting mark on my mind. I am now fully familiar with the root causes of British awkwardness vis-a-vis the EU, which makes it a lot easier to accept the widespread europhobia that one encounters across Britain today. The book does not attempt to be impartial or balanced; it is a systematic deconstruction of the monumental deception that consecutive British governments have wilfully committed in order to maintain the facade of Great Britain as a sovereign power in a European free-trade system. An authoritative manual of EU History (0/0 people found this helpful)This ought to be compulsory reading for all who study the European Union. Sadly, for the reasons explained inside, it is unlikely to be on the reading lists of those euro-fanatics who need to read it most. In particular, it will open the eyes of a generation of younger broad minded readers, brought up on the EU sponsored propaganda that is ingrained in the UK education system. The depth of study and the rigour of referencing is quite outstanding and the text, though heavy going at times is mostly very readable. Be warned, it may make you weep! Complusory reading for the next Government! (1/2 people found this helpful)Anyone who cares about our system of democracy must read this book. I hope that if David Cameron wins the next election he sends a copy of this book to every MP. He might then appreciate that he should have stuck to his guns with his "cast iron gurantee" for a referendum.
There's nothing like it (1/2 people found this helpful)A friend of mine causually recommended me this book. While I did take some offense from the title (deception is quite evil), after reading it I must admit that it is apt and accurate.
