As a guide to walking the Great Glen Way, this does what it says on the tin, giving perfectly adequate directions for walking the route both North to South and South to North.

It is not a difficult job, as it is almost impossible to get lost on this path, but the book does what it sets out to do.

It does need a little updating, the path has been re-routed for part of the section between Drumnadrochit and Inverness. Also, many of the tea rooms identified have closed down, which can be disappointing.

In terms of the path itself, if you are trying to decide whether to do it, I would summarise it as being not the most interesting walking in the world, there is too much on roads and forest tracks for that, but worth undertaking for the fabulous scenery, Loch Lochy in particular.

Walking from South to North, the walk is like a crescendo, with the highest point and the most interesting walking coming on the final day.

So in summary the walk is worth doing, and this book is a perfectly adequate guide
