Reader Reviews:The Greek Doctor's Diet (2/2 people found this helpful)this is a books is clearly written and easy to understand. Dr. Fedon A. Lindberg takes pains to help you understand the theory behind the diet and the health benefits you gain. This is not really a diet book but an option to engage in a healthier way of eating for the rest of your life. There are excellent meal plans and really good recipes in the book. The pearl barley risotto is to die for. I've Seen The Light! (10/10 people found this helpful)This book has been a bit of a revolution. I have tried many diets including calorie controlled, Atkins, Weetabix (yes it does exist) and have always headed the same way after a couple of weeks or (if lucky) a couple of months. The Greek Diet isn't really a diet for losing weight and then reverting back to old habits, its a whole new way of eating which keeps you feeling full, healthy and your tastebuds tingling day after day. The only negative is that the book hasn't really got many recipes which is why I highly recommend purchasing his accompanying book with 100 recipes in. Don't think this is just another fad, this really does have the potential to change your life and your families, it did mine and I believe it will continue. A way of eating that's pleasurable, scientifically sound, and abundantly rewarding (24/25 people found this helpful)Some readers of this review might be disappointed when they discover that I am not reviewing Dr Lindberg's book as a dieter, but rather as a health-conscious person who is keenly aware of the beneficial effects of a low-GL diet on one's energy, fertility, and general wellbeing. Indeed, I am not a 'dieter' in the sense that I have any weight to lose, and I only bought the book because it contained some recipes that looked totally marvellous, but I can - and will - put in my two cents' worth on this wonderful book.
A refreshing non gimicky, lifestyle, non-diet diet (33/33 people found this helpful)I've been on a diet for at least 35 years and tried every diet going, buying all the latest gimics I've at last found a way of eating that is sustainable, increases energy and aids sustained weight loss. I feel great and I'm not hungry.
Not the best of its kind (1/3 people found this helpful)This book is one of many based on the glycemic index theory, that overweight is in fact caused by "overloading" the pancreas with refined carbohydrates. It is very informative, but I find the actual programme a bit complicated. My personal advice if you're into glycemic index slimming is to check out Michel Montignac's book "Eat yourself slim", it's just better.
