Reader Reviews:

2/5 stars

more like a case study (0/0 people found this helpful)

I thought this book would be written like a fiction book eventhough i knew it was a non fiction. It was hard to keep reading and perservere because i felt there was no suspense. The story was shocking and it was interesting to see how this actually happened but i found it a very long slog to read it.
It will definately not be recommended from me. Stick to fiction writing because this read more like a case study than a exciting story and it could of been vastly improved.

1/5 stars

Tedious and poorly written (0/1 people found this helpful)

After a mind-numbing 100 pages I had to give up on this book! Can I have my money back?

3/5 stars

An amazing story (0/0 people found this helpful)

This really is a book everybody should read. The storytelling is not perfect, but still very good. However, it's the story itself that drives the book. I do wish the photos hadn't been put into the middle of the book though; spoiled the whole tension somewhat. Therefore only 3 stars.

2/5 stars

Disappointed by this. (0/0 people found this helpful)

I am an ardent fan of John Grisham and have read all his books to date. I await each new book with anticipation. Like several of your other reviewers, however, I am deeply disappointed by "The Innocent Man". I received the book as a Christmas present from my husband who knows how much I usually enjoy John Grisham's books. Although the cover blurb states "It has the feel of a legal thriller" it is just a list of factual events repeated over and over. The abuse of the American justice system does need to be exposed but to put this book on the crime/thriller shelves amongst the fiction is, I believe, a cynical marketing ploy.

4/5 stars

Injustice, vividly brought to life (0/0 people found this helpful)

This book is about the wrongful conviction of a man called Ron Williamson, and another man who were both accused of raping and murdering a young woman. The story starts by looking at Ron's early life, his baseball career and then his degrading mental health. Not at all helped by him spending several years in Death Row for a crime he never committed.

You will be staggered by the ways that bent coppers and prosecuters get their men. As if that wasn't enough, lazy defence lawyers and judges make the situation worse.

If you were pro death penalty before you read this book, you probably won't be after.
