Unbelievably bad (0/0 people found this helpful)

Truly dreadful. A depressing tale about London low-life written in a style that mirrors the characters perfectly - unattractive, illiterate and acutely boring. Not helped that it takes 250 pages of drivel to achieve the glimmer of a plot. If you can finish this one you deserve a prize - the next one.

Absolutely brilliant (0/0 people found this helpful)

I have heard that a lot of Martina Cole's book are a bit samey but nevertheless I picked this up at a car booty and the minute I started reading I was gripped. This book throws a powerful punch and I could not put this down and felt really sad when I had finished. I do not get misty eyes over books but I really felt heart felt with this story. This book will stay in my library for a while to come yet and when I feel down and need to appreciate my life I am going to pick this up and read it !!! It has been a few days since I finished but this book will stay with me for a lifetime !!

I have only recently started to get into reading books and this was one of the auther's i decieded to start with. I was not disapointed, the auther and title both made it a splended reading, it truley tells it how it is. I have now bought The Craft from Martine Cole and can't wait to get into it.

My god......couldn't put it down (0/0 people found this helpful)

This was a simply stunning book with every character likeble, especially Joanie, who despite being a prostitute, u feel compassion for and admire her and the way she treats her kids. Martina has portrayed her as a hard woman but makes sure you can't help but like her.

This book really is about living on the edge and it hits the back of your throat when little Kira goes missing. I felt a little uneasy about Thomas, the obese and weird friend Kira visits but you know he is incapable of hurting her.
This book was a total page turner, and I had an uneasy feeling about Paulie all the way through, which of course is understandable when u reach the end. Thoroughly enjoyable and keeps u glued!!

The original and the best (0/0 people found this helpful)

Forget Faces. Forget The Business... in fact forget the drivel Martina Cole has produced in the last two years and read The Know. It is brilliant. Honestly - this is one of her earlier efforts and a perfect example of Martina at her best. I have read all of her books now and this is my favourite by a mile. The characters, especially Jon Jon, still stick in my mind, and I read it years ago. You won't be able to put it down.
