This was a brilliant read, i was glued to it as soon as i'd read the first few pages, the way Martina Cole describes her characters and their Characteristics is brilliant, you can imagine everything and really get a feel for the atmosphere It is a horrible story and some parts had me in tears but a real page turner and i couldnt put it down!

Thrilling read (0/0 people found this helpful)

I have read most of Ms. Cole's books and this has to be the best by far. Given the length of the novel, her writing never waivers and keeps you gripped until the last page.

George Markham, the seemingly innocuous character, gradually builds into a sadistic murderer. I loved the way the author brought in details of his background; gives credence to the nature or nurture debate; are criminals made this way or does their own environment cause them to turn out how they are. The tension in the novel steadily builds and the storyline is fantastic.

A subplot to the main story is the relationship between Kate and Patrick. Again, I thought this was written beautifully. This book really is worth a read. Fantastic!
