Mu the mother of all culture? (2/2 people found this helpful)

Mu, the Motherland, according to Churchward was a lost culture which was the centre of civilization some 25,000 years ago. A vanished continent which sent Colonel James Churchward on a lifetime's search, from the vaults of an Indian temple to Australia, from Siberia to the South Seas. In 1868, while serving with the British Army in India, Churchward allegedly became close friends with a high temple priest who taught him how to decipher numerous stone tablets which had lain hidden for centuries in the temple vaults. They told of a vast civilization which had emerged, flourished and decayed long before our own; the Continent of Mu, a veritable garden of Eden. This is Churchward's story of how he followed the trail of Mu to the ends of the earth and pieced together the picture of a civilization, guided by religious principles, whose influence is still felt throughout the world - though now lost in the mists of time... Mu, the Motherland.
For those interested in the concept of lost civilizations this book offers a refreshing read, however if Churchward is correct and he did indeed stumble open these records then it is one of the great shames of humanity that nothing scientific or any real evidence was ever recorded. Indeed this book is largely based on Churwards own personal experiences and opinions. One just has to take his word for it when he claims that a certain King or Queen lived 34,000 years hence, as he offers no real evidence to support his theories. We are just supposed to except that he is right as a matter of fact, not surprising his work has never been taken seriously by academic circles, and he was even labelled a crank by the archaeological establishment. To give Churchward some credence however some of the work offers some refreshing insight into some of the biggest mysteries of the origins of Humanity, i.e., the white races of Polynesia, the peopling of the Americas, and the rise and fall of Central American civilizations, including the mighty Maya. The chapter on "Nivens Mexican lost Cities" is compelling to say the least. Some of the dates that Churchward ties to these catastrophes of numerous past civilizations falls in uncannily with the end of the last glacial maximum, known to geologists, and the end of the last ice age, recent evidence is now coming to light that it may not of been as non turbulent as previously thought, and may have been responsible for stories such as the biblical flood, ( referred to often by Churchward and oddly used to corroborate a lot of his evidence, later scientists tended to dismiss the flood as a myth, but the tables are again turning ) and the extinction of millions of prehistoric animals, one has to wander what the effect may have been on any human populations at the time living with such upheavals as this. His theories on the displacement of gas belts under the earths crust leading to the final destruction of this Motherland are astonishing in light of recent theories, however it is unclear how these would tye in with modern plate tectonics. One thing is clear however, is that if there was ever indeed a lost continent whether it be, Atlantis, Lemuria, Mu etc the pacific ocean is one of the most likely candidates for its location, covering a third of the earths surface and situated on one of the most turbulent regions in the world for volcanic activity, labelled by geologists as the "ring of fire", where there now lay scattered thousands of tiny Islands, remnants according to Churchward of "the Lost Continent of Mu the Motherland of Man"

Read it, make up your own mind. Eerily Enjoyable.
