Fit for purpose (2/2 people found this helpful)

This is a good but not exceptional book on iLife. It is probably just the sort of book that would have been provided with the computer/software about 15 years ago under the guise of a manual. It is terribly praising of all things Mac and therefore not very judgemental on the applications - everything is great/cool - nor are there any hints on how to avoid problems or non standard short cuts, tricks or cheats(sic). Still a good buy though.

Brings the software to life!! (14/14 people found this helpful)

Ok you can buy the software and use it without this book, but purchase it and you enter another dimension with iLife.

I have used iLife on and off since iLife4 and each new version adds additional value. However, I do not believe that you can get the full benefit from the software unless you read this book. It takes you into the depths of the programme and shows you how to get the maximum benefit from the software.

The book is clear, concise and easy to follow.

Superb (11/11 people found this helpful)

This book has so much to offer, it is almost impossible to review. Anyone new to the iLife programmes this book is a must. Not only is it a fantastic "how to " book but it also tells you why. One of my pet hates in reading so many "how to" books is the constant referral to items and illustrations on other pages. Not so with this book! Jim has managed to keep almost all of his tips and tricks on a visual two-page spread which makes reading a pleasure. (Perhaps why I am so fond of many of Scott Kelby's books)
The layout and lavish illustrations throughout are truly superb and make this book a must have for anyone wanting to learn everything about the iLife '06
