Best book on meditation I've seen (24/24 people found this helpful)This is a fantastic introduction to meditation. It is not written in a dry, technical way, but rather with gentle anecdotes and suggestions that are easy to read, understand and enjoy. The small size of the book perhaps reflects the reality of simplicity being a component of the peace the book discusses and is in itself encouraging!! If you've ever wanted to know what meditation is, or how to get started, this must be one of the best places. A True Buddhist Monk (123/125 people found this helpful)Thich Nhat Hanh has to be one of the best authors on Buddhism I have ever read. His style of writing flows so well that his books are easy to read and it's clear to see that in this book he was really writing from the heart. After reading The Miracle of Mindfulness it leaves me with such a good understanding of the mind of such a great monk and a feeling of peace. I would recommend this book to anyone whether they have read other books on Buddhism or are just curious to know the basics of Buddhist thought and teachings. Thich Nhat Hanh shows us throughout his book how we spend too much time worrying about the past and the future without ever stopping to consider the present and how we fail to see the wider picture of our existence within the rest of the world. This is a refreshing and calming read in what is usually a busy and fast-paced existence. This is a book that can make you slow down and re-prioritise what is truly important in life making your life less stressful and selfish. A truly inspiring read. a handbook for happiness. (8/9 people found this helpful)Nhat Hanh gives generously and in this beautiful book attempts to illustrate a better way to be. the message is simple, easy to understand and without doubt incredibly useful. Buddhism has been the bedrock of the author’s life but any reader can enrich his life by learning to breath and with a smile be there now.
