Reader Reviews:A Genius Uncovered. (27/32 people found this helpful)A fascinating insight into a man who probably most epitomises "The Renaissance". The scope of his interests and the amount of detail that he undertook with them is revealed here to show a man who could quite clearly be labelled a genius. Whilst this volume presents an edited version of Da Vinci's notes, a fine job has been done in corralling them into some semlance of order (Da Vinci would scrawl e.g. notes on light in the margins of his manuscripts on painting). However some entries do seem a little banal and there is no explanation as to some of the terms used: How long is a braccia? For that the notes that accompany the last section on Da Vinci's general life help to illustrate the times he lived in both socially and politically - a chance encounter with Michaelangelo being particularly interesting as well as his dealings with Cesare Borgia. This collection is essential (13/24 people found this helpful)I can not do this book justice by attempting to describe it in words. Far be it from me. All I can say is that if you are a Da Vincian at heart, this book should already be in your collection. If it's not, then by all means get it.
