This is the most unbelievable story, but believe me - I have met the villain of the piece and was also taken in - it is all true.
I have the deepest respect for Mary TT facing ridicule and criticism for publishing this chronicle of how she and her family were completely conned and abused by an almost unimaginable monster - someone who seems to go all out to destroy and manipulate women and their (and his own) children for sheer entertainment.
The book is almost impossible to put down, telling a story that most script writers would have found hard to dream up with honesty and humor. Mary truly is an inspiration to people everywhere (not just lonely women) on how to face disaster and get back on your feet to make the most of life.
But if you are intrigued - the updated version "The Bigamist: The True Story of a Husband's Ultimate Betrayal" (also available on Amazon) has more detail, information and insight that has emerged since the bigamy trial and the publication of the first book.

This is a must read for any Woman or Man that has been cheated on for various reasons. I couldn't put this down and I had to keep reminding myself that this was a true story. I think Mary is so brave to have put pen to paper and find all the other Mrs. Jordans aswell. She has picked up the pieces and got on with her life for her 3 children I don't think this is all about internet dating (be careful of course) but do we ever know our husbands / partners???

I think I must have heard the same radio interview as the previous reviewer, and it finally opened my eyes to the fact that my ex-partner, who I'd blessedly just told where to go (finally) was a sociopath.
Thanks to the condition being given a 'name' I then went to a plethora of websites and textbooks on the disorder, which made me understand what had happened totally.
So finally...I decided to read the book that in one way or another started my recovery and I'm must say I'm very glad I did. An amazing story; I had to read it all today. Anyone who's gone through this will recognise the methods employed by the sociopath and how downright WEIRD things can get. Anyone who hasn't will be gripped all the same.
Good on you, Mary - in your own words, 'I hope something wonderful happens to you today'!

Like previous reviewers I also found the book compelling and read it in a couple of days. It is a moving and painfully honest account of one woman's suffering at the hands of a sociopath. Mary leaves no stone unturned in examining how an intelligent and caring woman like herself came to be taken in in this way, which makes for a satisfying read as she predicts the questions which readers may have in their minds - predominantly - but how ??- and sets about answering them. She also generously provides a list of websites and sources of information to help others at the end of the book. For anyone tempted to criticize those who are taken in by con artists, I urge you to read this book and then claim " It couldn't happen to me".

This is an amazing, unbelievable story and the author was very brave to write her experience of bigamy in such a honest and symphatic way.
I read the book very quickly because I simply could not put it down.
After reading this you have great admiration for the author who on her own journey of recovery wanted to help others with similar experiences and give the rest of us the insight and information to prevent us falling into the same trap.
