Reader Reviews:his best (3/5 people found this helpful)I have read all Ludlum's books (except the posthumous ones) - this is my favourite, perhaps his best. There is also the "Gemini Contenders" (which gives Dan Brown's Code a run for its money by the way), but still "Parsifal" has that little thing that makes it more clever. Maybe the fact that you actually meet "Parsifal" in the middle of the book in a quite innocuous way, never thinking it might be him, and then at the end, lo and behold ! This moment is like Alice Starling ringing at the door and facing Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. This kind of perfect "this is so clever" emotion is scarce in books. In Parsifal Mosaic Ludlum manages this, this is why it is, in my view, his best. Ludlum at his best! (5/5 people found this helpful)I may be biased in as far as this was the first "Ludlum" novel i read but after reading this I couldn't wait to get my hands on somemore!! The story really moves along at a fair gallop & I found it really hard to put down.I have just finished re-reading it after 15 years & although some of the politics are now dated it was as good a read then as it is now. As in all Ludlum novels,he excells at getting you to identify/empathise with the main character ,in this case Michael Havelock.I also wonder if the main plot was based around real incident with a certain ex-president.All in all a must read!
