Yet again Amazon's "people who bought this item also bought THIS" feature leads me to a wonderful book to share with my son.
Jane Nissen is to be commended for reissuing such an original and entertaining novel. We loved the voices, the mad octopus songs, the proud and patriotic affection for Britain's maritime heritage, and above all, the vivid depiction of a different type of childhood to what so many children now experience - being able to run wild and have fabulous adventures.

This book is simply excellent it sparked my imagination as a child and even today 35 years later. Linklater conjures a superb story that is impossible to put down as he takes the reader on a plausible yet historical fantasy. I eagerly await the day Stephen Spielberg finds the book to bring it to the wide screen yet at the same time dread the thought that it may not match those wonderful visions it creates in the mind. From 6 to 106 you will enjoy - a classic that has missed the billing buy it enjoy and you will never want to lose it. Like me you will share it first with yourself and then your children. Watchout for the scoundrels and nincompoops and let Gunner Boles lead the way!

If you enjoyed The Wind on the Moon, you will love The Pirates in the Deep Green Sea. I'm so pleased to see them back in print -- both were read to me as a child and I look forward to reading them to my own little people in years to come. Regard it as a special treat that you can buy these two imaginative children's books and snap them up while you can!
