The book was a christmas present for my mother. It arrived on time in perfect condition.

Sorry to say I found this really disappointing. The idea sounded exciting, however the reality was not. Too many flowery words and not enough substance. In fact there were times when I didn't even understand what Roberta Taylor was trying to convey.

Sorry not for me (1/1 people found this helpful)

I am afraid that I just couldn't get into this book and I really didnt care for any of the characters. If a book dosent grab me in the first couple of chapters I am lost and I am afraid I got lost and gave up after 5.
I did think I would really enjoy this as it was set in the 60's and to start with I felt the atmosphere of London in that era, (not that I was there) but I couldn't warm to any of the people as I felt they were cold and one dimensional.

I enjoyed Roberta's first book 'To Many Mothers' but with regret, I couldnt get on with this one at all.

Boring, Boring, Boring (1/1 people found this helpful)

When I read the back of this books cover I was quite interested in reading this book as it was the time my parents grew up and I thought it would be a good book to read as they were from the London area.

Whilst I am sure my parents would remember the winter of 1963, I don't really feel that this book gave much of an insight as to what things were like back then.

I thought the book didn't particularly flow very well, and alot was left to your own imagination. Maybe if less was left to your own inmagination and didn't ramble on a bit it would be half the length, but much more enjoyable.

Will not be reading anymore of her books

Ivy Brown (1/1 people found this helpful)

I enjoyed this novel by actress Roberta Taylor, which made me hope that she will find time to write more novels as well as continuing with her successful acting career.
The complex plot of this novel coupled with the fragmented style of writing produced a gripping read, made more enjoyable by the necessity to back track occasionally to make sure you understood what was actually happening.
I found the last chapter particularly poigniant.
