The definative travel companion! (6/9 people found this helpful)

Being an undeniable fan of "The Rough Guide" Series, the guide to Sweden packs in the ususal mix of what to do, where to stay and all the other facts and commentary that we have all grown to love.

Having spent 6 weeks travelling in central and southern Sweden, The Rough Guide did not fail to disappoint! Being a country that most people will have little to no real knowledge of, the guide is an essential companion.

I was pleased by the level of detail that the guide contained, not just on the big three cities of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. To experience the best that Sweden has to offer, you need to get out into the countryside, and the guide covers all the essentials using its typically honest and frank style.

Partner this guide with a good phrase book and you're all set for a great visit to one of Europe's best kept secrets!

It's falling apart! (5/7 people found this helpful)

I was quite disappointed with this, as it contains no suggested travel itineries or highlights, and I think the order in which it covers different parts of the country is a bit random. Most importantly, it started to fall apart when I'd had it less than a month! As a Brit living in Sweden, I think the place deserves better!

Gets to the heart of a wonderful country (6/7 people found this helpful)

This book is thoroughly well researched and written. It avoids all of the traditional cliches and really gets to the heart of the country. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to travel to Sweden.

don't leave home without one (5/6 people found this helpful)

An excellent guidebook. Detailed and informative, it's well worth having for the chapter on Stockholm alone.

5/5 stars

most accurate, comprehensive and fun book on Sweden (10/11 people found this helpful)

Up to date and a mine of really useful information which other guides seem to miss - finds the small, out of the way places which make this fantastic country so vibrant. Whether you want Sweden's cities, villages, islands or the huge mass of countryside inbetween, this guide is exceptionally well balanced and a good read in itself.
