Reader Reviews:

3/5 stars

I'm sure it would be a great book if I could actually understand it... (1/5 people found this helpful)

This was the ONLY book I could find on this topic that had pretty much 5 star ratings on every review. Needless to say, with the huge amount of books on the truth behind The Da Vinci Code, this is the one I was propelled to purchase. Big mistake.

I was a huge fan of Dan Brown's novel. I was unlucky enough to see the movie before reading the book but was equally as impressed with both. I was not really in to books much before reading The Da Vinci Code, but I was eager to know more information on the truth behind the allegations of Dan Brown.

On starting to read this book I found it very difficult to understand behind all the mumbo jumbo of big words and long sentences. I am not the smartest person in the world, however, I was always very good at English during school and a bit of a freak when it comes to correct spelling and grammar.

My feeling is that books should be enjoyable to read, not difficult to understand. I am not doubting that the information in the book is excellent (the parts I could actually comprehend were very interesting), I am just warning any non-university level educated person that they may find it difficult.

The book for the FILM! (10/11 people found this helpful)

I have discovered that the new edition of The Rough Guide to The Da Vinci Code contains a huge amount of fascinating information about how the FILM was made. Whether or not you have ever read Dan Brown's novel, you definitely need to read this book if you go and see the FILM. This book is very special, invaluable, full of insights and secrets -- in short it is wonderful and I recommend it to everyone interested in the ideas, symbolisms and mysteries behind The Da Vinci Code -- and especially the way they are made use of in the FILM.

Better than Dan Brown (14/17 people found this helpful)

This book is far more interesting than Dan Brown's novel, and is really worth a read, or keeping on your bookshelf as a reference work.

5/5 stars

Brilliant Decrypt (16/18 people found this helpful)

This book is a brilliant work of decryption. It wonderfully analyses all the material in Dan Brown's novel -- historical, theological, etc -- and gives you the background information you need to make up your own mind or carry your interest further. Plenty of further reading and numerous websites are listed too. A well-focused book. Really useful. And enjoyable to read!

5/5 stars

A Revelation! (12/13 people found this helpful)

This book reveals the inside story of The Da Vinci Code, referring back to ancient sources. Really an inspiring and informative read. Absolutely sound historically. Highly recommended. Five stars!!!
